The Church

l'espace culturel JPF, Historical location for a unique event

The Story behind the Monument

Some places need to be dressed up; others need nothing at all. Built between 1874 and 1876 in the heart of the village of Saint-Norbert, the church—now known as Espace culturel Jean-Pierre Ferland is a gathering place returned to its community, with its vaulted ceiling, choir loft, and painted décor still intact. The ceremony, cocktail reception, and meal all take place under the same roof, beneath the same vaulted ceiling.

In 2010, Jean-Pierre Ferland, a Saint-Norbert resident for nearly 45 years, organized a benefit concert with Ginette Reno to save the church from closing. Some 2,500 people attended. Nearly one million dollars in restoration work followed. In 2018, the municipal council unanimously voted to name the venue after him. Getting married here means celebrating in a building that a village refused to lose.
